"It just beads right off"
Long before waterproof membranes and technical shells, waxed cotton was the fabric trusted by sailors and outdoorsmen to keep the weather where it belonged. Durable, naturally water resistant, and built to develop character with every wear, it's one of those rare materials that only gets better over time.
The Highland Waxed Flap Cap takes that heritage and applies it to our signature silhouette. It Features our familiar short brim, unstructured construction, and mid-depth crown slightly tweaked to become a trapper-hat, a heritage outdoorwear staple.
A dry-waxed cotton shell sheds light rain with ease, while tartan cotton flannel ear flaps add warmth when the temperature drops and tuck neatly away when they don't. Finished with chainstitch script embroidery, a calf leather adjustment strap, and custom metal snap hardware, every detail is considered.
It's a hat inspired by the past, made for whatever today's forecast throws at it.

FAQs
Is the waxed cotton waterproof?
The Highland Waxed Flap Cap is water resistant, not fully waterproof. The dry-waxed cotton exterior is designed to repel light rain and snow, causing water to bead and roll off the surface. In prolonged or heavy downpours, some moisture will eventually work its way through.
Will the wax wear off over time?
Yes—and that's part of the appeal. Like any waxed cotton product, the fabric will gradually develop a unique patina through wear, creating a look that's entirely your own. If needed, the cap can be re-waxed in the future to restore its water-resistant finish.
Can I wash it?
We don't recommend machine washing or submerging the cap in water, as this can strip the wax coating. Instead, wipe away dirt with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry. If the finish begins to lose its effectiveness after years of wear, simply reapply a wax dressing.
What are the ear flaps made from?
The ear flaps are made from a soft cotton tartan flannel, providing extra warmth on colder days while remaining lightweight enough to tuck away when not in use.
How does it fit?
The Highland Waxed Flap Cap features our signature mid-depth, unstructured fit with an adjustable calf leather back strap, making it suitable for most head sizes.
Will the wax transfer onto clothing?
When new, the waxed fabric may feel slightly firmer than standard cotton, but we've chosen a dry-waxed finish that minimizes residue and gives the cap a softer hand. Under normal use, it shouldn't transfer wax onto your clothing.
Is every cap the same?
Because waxed cotton is a natural material, slight variations in texture, creasing, and finish are normal. These subtle differences are part of what gives each cap its individual character.

Size Guide (cm)
Size Guide (cm)
We've set out to create headwear styles that suit all head shapes & preferences:
Truckers / Ballcaps / Fused 5-Panel Caps
- Each cap measures approximately 58cm before adjustment, which is around the average adult head size.
- They are adjustable to approximately 53–63cm head circumference.
- Mid-depth, unstructured crown - so you can shape how you like it.
- Signature 6.5cm short brim for a more balanced, well-proportioned silhouette.
- All of our fused 5-panel caps share the same cutting pattern and fit. Minor variations may occur between styles due to differences in fabric weight and thickness.
- Our caps feature our signature shortened brim with a mostly flat, subtle pre-curve that can be shaped further to suit your preference & face width. You can bend a flat brim, but you cant unbend a curved brim!
- You'll receive a printed shaping guide with your hat purchase.
Bendy Brim Caps
- Lower crown profile
- 57 cm unadjusted circumference
- Flexible 6cm brim
- Best suited to those who prefer a classic "dad cap" fit or have smaller head sizes.
Knitted Beanies
Our knitted cotton beanies are designed around a 57 cm head circumference. Thanks to the natural stretch of the cotton knit, they'll comfortably fit a similar size range to our caps.
